ABOUT TRASTEVERE

Trastevere is the most characteristic area of central Rome, charming and ... typically Roman! This on-the-river neighborhood rises with the sun and never slows down. Cobblestone pathways wind through Trastevere’s ivy-covered trattorias and weathering apartments, while umbrella-shaded outdoor cafes line alleyways filled with tattoo shops and microbreweries. As evening approaches, street performers, poets, skateboarders and merry-makers flood Trastevere’s countless clubs, bars, and piazzas.

GETTING AROUND

You are just a few steps from two of the main Roman churches (Santa Maria in Trastevere and Santa Cecilia) and from the Tiber Island; you will enjoy wandering the streets and alleys full of charm and color, typical restaurants, trendy clubs – meeting points for Romans and tourists – with many small craft shops and design objects.

A few steps away, on Viale Trastevere, you will find various transport lines connecting you to St. Peter's/Vatican, Navona square, Campo dei Fiori, Venezia square and all of Rome's major points of interest in a few minutes.

SANTA MARIA IN TRASTEVERE

Nestled in a quiet corner of Trastevere's focal square, this is said to be the oldest church dedicated to the Virgin Mary in Rome. In its original form, it dates to the early 3rd century, but a major 12th-century makeover saw the addition of a Romanesque bell tower and glittering facade. According to legend, the church stands on the spot where a fountain of oil miraculously sprang from the ground.

TIBER ISLAND

The Tiber Island has always been a place of mystery, wrapped in legend, surrounded by the river and forever tied to the origins of Rome. Since prehistoric times, the island has been the easiest point of crossing the river towards the commercial roads to the north and south of Rome and it was certainly not by chance that the first and most ancient of the city’s river ports was born right in front of it.

THE TRASTEVERE'S COLOURS

As you lose yourself down the winding cobblestone streets and dive into an authentic Roman trattoria, you'll soon discover why everyone falls in love with this magnifico quartiere 'just across the Tiber' as its name suggests.

From romantic winding alleyways and charming cafés and shops, to magestic churches and splendid piazzas, there's plenty to keep tourists busy in the neck of the woods!

Cristina's home was absolutely perfect for our trip to Trastevere! The bed in the bedroom was so comfortable, and the closet had enough space for both my husband and mines travel gear. Many many thanks for making our trip a lifetime memory!

What more could you want than a bright, clean, and spacious place to stay in one of Rome’s liveliest neighbourhoods? In any event, if you’re looking for a nice place to stay in Trestevere for a few days, then you can’t really go wrong with this apartment.
